Multi Slides Forming Machine:Slide forming machines are specialized presses built to do different tasks, from simpler ones to complex ones, like stampings with high speed, accuracy, repeatability, cost effectiveness and economy. Slide forming is a flexible process of manufacturing. It incurs low tooling cost even in the face of significant part complexity. The complexities can be multiple bends in several directions, bend over 90° and all such processes that are difficult or costly with a standard stamping press. Slide machine can handle all such processes cost-effectively. The machines used in slide forming can also be called vertislides, fourslides, and multislides. To perform slide forming, a trained and experienced team of setup operators, toolmakers and designers is required.
Slide forming is also considered as a metal stamping refinement.
A standard stamping press, the four basic components are:
The machine itself, that provides the power and the physical framework
A pair of parallel surfaces that close and open again under power (the “bed” stays still and the “ram” moves down and back up)
A two-part die-set, one part is fastened to the bed and the other part is fastened to the ram. This set gives accurate line-up of the cutting surfaces.
The job specific part houses the job-specific punches and dies.
As the ram closes, the dies and punches interact, and cut, bend or do another function to make the desired part. When the ram opens the second time, part(s) are removed and new material is kept in place.
In this sort of press, vertical motion is supplied by the machine, which makes it ideal to easily make flat parts. It can also bend less than 90° easily. The process becomes complex when additional part features are added, like multiple bend, bend over 90°, or metal with varying amounts of spring-back.
The complexity needed to the die-set can also be added. Each new complex feature needs expensive benders, cams or other sub machines to be developed into the job-specific tooling. The built up of these mechanisms can cause a great deal of tooling money to the customer.
These machines have in-built cams and slides, which reduces the tooling cost of a complex job.
These machines integrate and synchronize three sections- straightener, feed and press, while add a fourth forming area.
Like regular press, the feed and straightener works, but the accuracy is much better attributable to the integration.
The press section is utilized to make holes and a few other part features. In the press, the parts are not separated from each other.
The slide forming machine can not make flat parts.
It is suitable for making complex parts cost effectively. Parts with bends can be easily made in this machine.
